DESCRIPTION:What do we do about close relationships that cause drama\, distress\, and self-doubt?\nCan we heal from a relationship that has been deeply unsettling – even damaging?\nIf we must extricate from a relationship\, how do we navigate the complexities — especially with family or friends?\nIf we must stay in the relationship\, how do we protect ourselves?\n\nIn the midst of the holiday season\, our most difficult relationships can become even more troublesome. How do we manage? These relationships are important\, but do they serve us? And how do we decide when duty ends and self-care begins? \nThese are challenging yet essential questions\, and so we are excited to have Lisa Twerski\, LCSW\, return to lead us in a discussion. She has been working with victims of trauma including rape\, incest and domestic violence for over thirty years and has held numerous positions in and out of the Jewish community. Mrs. Twerski is on the Board of Directors of Nefesh\, The International Network of Orthodox Mental Health Professionals\, maintains a private practice in Brooklyn working with individuals and couples and lectures locally and nationally on many subjects including domestic abuse\, marriage\, and dating. \nShe is the author of a book for victims of domestic violence in the Orthodox Jewish community entitled\, I’m So Confused\, Am I Being Abused? Guidance for the Orthodox Jewish Spouse and Those Who Are Trying to Help. She has recently published an interactive marriage education workbook for couples in the Orthodox Jewish Community entitled\, Me & You – What I Wish I Knew.
