SUMMARY:The Ins and Outs of Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy with Ronit Sukenick\, PT\, DPT\, PRPC
DESCRIPTION:  \nWe all have a pelvic floor – and for most of us\, it could benefit from some attention! \nLearn more about this often overlooked area of the body. So many men and women experience bowel/bladder and sexual dysfunction as a result of life events\, surgeries\, babies\, cancer or aging and changing hormones… Some don’t even know that they have pelvic floor dysfunction\, but have been putting up with urinary frequency\, constipation\, pain with sex\, or urinary incontinence\, thinking “this is just the way things are now.”  But Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy is a first line\, evidence-based treatment that may help ease many of these conditions. \nIn this presentation Ronit will talk about what the Pelvic Floor is\, why it is important\, and the symptoms and conditions addressed in pelvic floor physical therapy. Ms. Sukenick will describe what happens during a pelvic floor evaluation by a physical therapist\, and what treatment modalities and  typical treatment plans are employed. And\, for healthcare practitioners\, we’ll review best practices for referring patients who are experiencing pelvic floor-related symptoms. \nDuring the experiential component\, we’ll have a brief exercise session with light stretches\, strengthening\, and coordination exercises for the pelvic floor\, and we’ll end with a pelvic floor-specific meditation. \nTo participate\, please have a mat or towel ready\, as well as a little space to lie down. \n\nThis event is free\, but you must register using this link\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZArdu-tpzsqEtYM2be2FRDHUOe8MVknChEm\nA confirmation and Zoom link will be sent to you after you register. \nPlease consider making a voluntary contribution of  any amount – $10-$15-$25 or more – via this form so that we may continue bringing you quality KSG events free of charge. \n\nRonit Sukenick\, PT\, DPT\, PRPC is a Westchester-based physical therapist with a specialty in pelvic floor rehabilitation. She has a doctorate degree in physical therapy\, and has been a practicing physical therapist for the past 14 years. She spent much of her career as a physical therapist at New York Presbyterian Hospital at Columbia\, rotating through a variety of different specialties and treatment settings. Her own experience with pelvic floor dysfunction and subsequent recovery from a pubic symphysis disruption during pregnancy inspired her to pursue a specialty in pelvic floor physical therapy. \nIn 2013\, Ronit established the pelvic floor physical therapy program at New York Presbyterian Hospital at Columbia. Ronit has taken numerous courses to advance her understanding of pelvic floor dysfunction and rehabilitation and earned her Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification (PRPC) from the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute in 2016. She now has a thriving private practice in Dobbs Ferry\, NY\, where she treats men\, women\, and teens with pelvic floor symptoms including but not limited to pelvic pain\, incontinence\, and constipation. \nRONIT SUKENICK\, PT\, DPT\, PRPC\nSpecializing in Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation\nDobbs Ferry\, NY 10522\n914-768-3802\ninfo@rspelvicpt.com\nLearn more about Ronit at https://rspelvicpt.com/ \n  \n\nThis event is free\, but you must register using this link\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZArdu-tpzsqEtYM2be2FRDHUOe8MVknChEm\nA confirmation and Zoom link will be sent to you after you register. \nPlease consider making a voluntary contribution of  any amount – $10-$15-$25 or more – via this form so that we may continue bringing you quality KSG events free of charge.
