SUMMARY:How NWHC & Providers Can Work Together
DESCRIPTION:Healthy Living – Hospital\, Providers & the Public\nHow NWHC & Providers Can Work Together\nBe a part of the Think Tank on Healing\nTo sign up for this program please email us\n\nWhat is healthy living? \nAnd\, can we better embrace a community devoted to good health? \nHospitals contribute only a fraction to the health of our communities – an important fraction\, but a fraction nevertheless. \nHealthy eating\, lowering stress\, education\, exercise and sense of purpose can all be more determinative of how long and how well we live. We have known this for years\, but contemporary medicine is only now waking up to the concept of healthy living in ways that were unthinkable a few years ago. \nWhat new integrative concepts have been adopted by our hospital that take us to a new level of healing? The hospital’s role is not just about healing but now prevention and follow-up care to keep our community healthy. \nWhat questions and concerns do you have about your health care in the future? \nWe need your voice! Get a chance to finally network with hospital officials and community resources. \n  \n  \nOn Wednesday\, February 15th\, Joel Seligman\, CEO and Doctor Marla Koroly\, Medical Director of Northern Westchester Hospital will lead a think tank/focus group for us all to think about where medicine is – and where it needs to go. \nDr. Marla Koroly received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania\, where she was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She subsequently attended medical school at New York University School of Medicine\, with membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society\, and completed her internal medicine residency at New York University Medical Center. \nDr. Koroly is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Koroly served as the Medical Director of Beth Israel’s DOCS/Continuum Medical Group practices from 1993 through 2004\, when she left her practice to accept the position as Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer at Northern Westchester Hospital. During her time in practice she participated as a principal investigator in several clinical trials related to the care of patients with diabetes and hypertension. \nDr. Koroly has been an active member of the American College of Physicians and is currently the council representative for the Hudson Valley Region of the New York Chapter. \nJoel Seligman is the President and CEO of Northern Westchester Hospital (NWH).  He has dedicated his career to the healthcare industry\, serving in numerous roles at The Mount Sinai Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center before assuming the leadership of NWH in 2001.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree at Boston University and his MBA and Masters of Public Health from Columbia University. \nJoel has developed vital partnerships with other organizations\, including the Stellaris Health Network\, NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System\, the Visiting Nurse Association\, the Open Door of Ossining\, and the Planetree Alliance\, a national organization committed to holistic and patient-centered care.  He worked diligently with our Board of Trustees over the past year to finalize and implement a new partnership with Northwell Health\, formerly the North Shore-LIJ Health System\, which became effective in January 2015. \nAmong his many positions and activities\, Joel was also a member on the Planetree Board of Directors and is currently on the Advisory Board of Hope’s Door\, an organization that seeks to end domestic abuse.  Joel was selected to serve as a Board of Director for NonProfit Westchester (NPW)\, an organization whose mission is to strengthen the capacity\, impact and visibility of the nonprofit sector in Westchester County.  In 2015\, Joel was chosen to participate on the National Academy of Medicine’s Patient and Family Leadership Network.  He is the 2004 recipient of Visiting Nurse Association of Hudson Valley’s Ellen Wood Health Care Award\, the 2005 Mt Kisco Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year\, and the 2007 American Diabetes Association’s Father of the Year. \nIt is time to roll up our sleeves and talk. \nWe need to work together. \nPlease come to this truly important event. \n  \n  \n  \nTo sign up for this program please email us
