SUMMARY:Beyond Stimulants:   New Approaches to ADD and Memory with Mark Banschick\, MD
DESCRIPTION:These days\, Attention Deficit Disorder is commonly diagnosed both in children and adults. Stimulants are the go to treatment\, which while potent\, can cause a variety of side effects. In this presentation we will look at the diagnosis of ADD/ADHD both historically\, and with respect to contemporary brain research. \n\n\nQuestion: Can we heal these patients and not just treat them?\n\n\nWe will look closely at the variety of attention issues as well as co-morbid learning\, behavioral and memory problems that are found in this population. No two people are alike\, and certainly\, no two ADD/ADHD patients are alike. \nThe evening will feature case studies which illustrate a number of adjunctive and stand-alone treatments for ADD/ADHD that may be worthwhile to consider. \nWe hope to have a fruitful discussion. \n  \nMark Banschick\, M.D.\, is a Child\, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist and co-Founder of the Katonah Study Group (along with the wonderful Cindy Blum). Mark is the author of the Intelligent Divorce Book Series and writes for Psychology Today. He trained at Georgetown University Hospital in General Psychiatry and at New York Hospital/Columbia Presbyterian in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
