SUMMARY:The Wounded Healer\, with James Hollis\, PhD\, Jungian Analyst
DESCRIPTION:As Jung noted\, only the wounded healer can heal. Only the person who has suffered\, come to an enlarged consciousness through that suffering\, and then relates to others with a more assimilated woundedness can have a healing effect upon others. \nThe highest percentage of persons in the care-giving professions come from troubled backgrounds and seek their own healing through their choice of profession. \nThis program will especially identify the hidden pathology\, the hidden costs to such persons\, as well as explore the archetype of the wounded healer in all of us. \n\nThank you for joining us and for making this event a huge success. Here’s a link to Dr. Hollis’ diagrams and notes. \nDr. Hollis’ diagrams & notes \n\nMAKE A CONTRIBUTION \nClick on the contribution button and pay what you are able.\nThe suggested amount is $10 (US)\, but if you are not able to contribute at this time\, please simply register.\n \nPlease Make a Contribution to Help Us Cover Expenses — Thank You! \n  \n\nAbout the Presenter\nJames Hollis\, Ph. SUMMARY:The Miracles Among Us with Marc Siegel\, MD\, Author and Internist
DESCRIPTION:Almost everything a doctor sees can be explained by science.\nWell\, almost everything.\nDrawing on more than 30 years as a physician at NYU Langone\, Dr. Marc Siegel explores the mysterious intersection of faith and medicine\, made real by sharing the true stories of patients whose healing defied the odds.\nThe heart of this evening’s presentation will be what Dr. Siegel refers to as soft miracles — not single inexplicable events — but the accumulation of small\, interconnected moments\, when grace\, coincidence and human connection produce extraordinary outcomes. \nInspired in part by the soft miracles surrounding his own parents — who lived to 102 and 100 — Dr. Siegel will share remarkable and relatable accounts of miraculous synchronicities. While his message may be rooted in his faith\, his stories are universal\, and hold meaning for everyone. Expect an hour of science\, reflection\, and human connection in healing\, as well as time for conversation and questions. \nWe request that you log on promptly at 6:30 pm. \nDr. Siegel will present until 7:15 pm\, and a discussion with Dr. Mark Banschick and Dr. Robert L. Bard\, Manhattan radiologist will follow.\nWe will not be recording this particular webinar.\nIf you’ve registered and made a contribution and would like to request a refund\, please contact us at katonahstudygroup@gmail.com\n\nRegister now to secure a spot at the live webinar\n\nRegister Now \n\nMake a Contribution\nClick on the contribution button and pay what you are able.\nThe suggested amount is $10 (US)\, but if you are not able to contribute at this time\, please simply register.\n \nPlease Make a Contribution to Help Us Cover Expenses — Thank You! \n  \n\nAbout Our Presenter\nMarc Siegel\, MD\, is a practicing internist and Clinical Professor of Medicine at NYU Langone Health\, and he makes frequent appearances as a Senior Medical Analyst for Fox News. \nDr. Siegel is also medical director for Doctor Radio on SiriusXM\, a member of the board of contributors at USA Today\, and a columnist for The Hill and The Wall Street Journal. SUMMARY:The Twelve Steps to More Graceful Aging with Susan Pitzele\, MS and Peter Pitzele\, PhD
DESCRIPTION:We are living longer than any generation before us\, and many of us now find ourselves navigating a “fifth quarter” of life for which there are few road maps\, role models\, stories\, or shared traditions.\nSusan and Peter Pitzele\, inspired by their familiarity with the 12 Steps — the basis of Alcoholics Anonymous\, Alanon\, and many other programs — welcome us to ponder the possibility that the 12 Steps might provide deeper insight into the process of aging and dying\, help us find meaning and purpose\, feel our way through loss and grief\, and embrace opportunities of later life. \nWe invite you to join us as Susan and Peter guide us through the Steps\, exploring the potential for self-realization as we age. With warmth and compassion\, their guidance will be descriptive rather than proscriptive and encourage feedback and participation. \nWho may benefit:\n\nAdults interested in exploring aging as a developmental\, emotional\, spiritual\, and social journey\nIndividuals approaching retirement or navigating later-life transitions.\nOlder adults seeking meaning\, purpose\, and connection.\nCaregivers\, helping professionals\, educators\, clergy\, and community leaders interested in aging issues.\nAnyone curious about participating in a pioneering exploration of the Twelve Steps as a framework for aging.\n\nMake a Contribution\nClick on the contribution button and pay what you are able.\nThe suggested amount is $10 (US)\, but if you are not able to contribute at this time\, please simply register.\n \nPlease Make a Contribution to Help Us Cover Expenses — Thank You! \n  \n\n  \nAbout the Presenters\nSusan Pitzele\, MS has an advanced degree in counseling and has spent many years as a psychotherapist. She co-created Bibliodrama with Peter\, and is a veteran of 12 Step work. \nPeter Pitzele\, PhD studied literature\, and after leaving his teaching life was trained in psychodrama\,. He became the Director of Psychodrama Services at Four Winds Hospital from 1982-1995. While working with patients with dual diagnosis\, one of them being addiction\, he became acquainted with the 12 Step Programs. Later\, he joined a 12 Step Alanon group to deal with his own issues of co-dependency. Now 85\, he is a member of a local Alanon group where he is working the Steps as they apply to his “fifth quarter.” \nSusan and Peter’s presentation will be their first public presentation on the topic\, and will help them shape a new program that they are developing: a virtual\, 13-session pilot program via the International Tele’drama platform.  All are encouraged to learn more and register for their program here. \nContact information:\nPeter Pitzele\n516-375-5164 \n
