The Gut-Brain Connection – What You Need to Know, with Leo Galland, M.D.
January 15, 2025 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Physicians are expanding their understanding of the gut-brain connection — a bi-directional relationship between the intestinal microbiome and the brain that can influence memory, mood, and cognition.
This dynamic relationship may be clinically relevant to a range of disorders, including alcoholism, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, and restless legs syndrome. In addition, the role of the gut microbiome is being studied as an implication in multiple sclerosis and the neurologic manifestations of celiac disease.
In his internal medicine practice, Dr. Leo Galland has identified five mechanisms whereby the gut impacts the brain. It is through these varied mechanisms, gut microbes shape the architecture of sleep and stress reactivity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis.
In addition to describing these five mechanisms, Dr. Galland will share microbiome treatments that can make a real difference, including changes in diet, probiotics, and prebiotics.
This session is not to be missed. We hope you join us for an illuminating presentation by a pioneer in his field.
