The Ins and Outs of Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy with Ronit Sukenick, PT, DPT, PRPC

October 20, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

We all have a pelvic floor – and for most of us, it could benefit from some attention!

Learn more about this often overlooked area of the body. So many men and women experience bowel/bladder and sexual dysfunction as a result of life events, surgeries, babies, cancer or aging and changing hormones… Some don’t even know that they have pelvic floor dysfunction, but have been putting up with urinary frequency, constipation, pain with sex, or urinary incontinence, thinking “this is just the way things are now.”  But Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy is a first line, evidence-based treatment that may help ease many of these conditions.

In this presentation Ronit will talk about what the Pelvic Floor is, why it is important, and the symptoms and conditions addressed in pelvic floor physical therapy. Ms. Sukenick will describe what happens during a pelvic floor evaluation by a physical therapist, and what treatment modalities and  typical treatment plans are employed. And, for healthcare practitioners, we’ll review best practices for referring patients who are experiencing pelvic floor-related symptoms.

During the experiential component, we’ll have a brief exercise session with light stretches, strengthening, and coordination exercises for the pelvic floor, and we’ll end with a pelvic floor-specific meditation.

To participate, please have a mat or towel ready, as well as a little space to lie down.
