Adiós Prozac! How Psychedelic Drugs Are Revolutionizing the Treatment of Mental Illness – with David Feifel, MD, PhD

November 16, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Drugs that induce a distinctive, subjective altered state of consciousness—broadly referred to as “Psychedelics”— stand to revolutionize the treatment of mental disorders.

At present only one such drug, Ketamine, is FDA-approved for human use and, therefore, can be prescribed (off-label) to treat mental illness. However, many more psychedelics are under development including MDMA and Psilocybin, which have been given “fast track” designation by the FDA.

In this presentation, Dr. Feifel will provide an overview of these drugs, their approval status and how they will be used to impact on the treatment of mental illness.
