The Twelve Steps to More Graceful Aging with Susan Pitzele, MS and Peter Pitzele, PhD

October 15, 2026 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

We are living longer than any generation before us, and many of us now find ourselves navigating a “fifth quarter” of life for which there are few road maps, role models, stories, or shared traditions.

Susan and Peter Pitzele, familiar with the 12 Step fellowship that are the basis of AA, Alanon, and other programs, were inspired to asked the question: could the 12 Steps methods provide a deeper insight into the process of aging and dying, finding meaning and purpose, enduring loss, and the discovery of opportunities of later life?

We invite you to join us as Susan and Peter guide us through the steps, exploring the potential for self-realization as we age. With warmth and compassion, their guidance will be descriptive rather than proscriptive and encourage feedback and participation.

Who may benefit:

  • Adults interested in exploring aging as a developmental, emotional, spiritual, and social journey
  • Individuals approaching retirement or navigating later-life transitions.
  • Older adults seeking meaning, purpose, and connection.
  • Caregivers, helping professionals, educators, clergy, and community leaders interested in aging issues.
  • Anyone curious about participating in a pioneering exploration of the Twelve Steps as a framework for aging.
