Acceptance, Compassion & Empowerment with Michelle P. Maidenberg, Ph.D., MPH, LCSW-R

It’s common for us to feel trapped by our inner commentator or habitual patterns of behavior. From time to time, we all have regrets, struggle with relationships, or wrestle with a sense that something is not right. And, when faced with these challenges, it’s easy for self-worth to take a nosedive, causing us wonder where we went wrong, and to wish for a “do-over.”
Michelle P. Maidenberg, Ph.D., MPH, LCSW-R, will share how we can create a life of love and fulfillment and accept and integrate that which needs healing. Dr. Maidenberg’s approach – which she calls the ACE Method (Acceptance, Compassion, and Empowerment) – offers tools for those who feel slightly “stuck” and are seeking personal growth as well as those with more complex “stuckness” caused by trauma, cumulative stress, or other significant challenges.
During her presentation, Dr. Maidenberg will walk us through exercises to explore:
- Emotional avoidance and how it shows up in your thinking and decision-making
- A healthy way to engage with painful experiences and emotions so we can build better relationships
- How our core values help guide us in making sound decisions to foster our satisfaction and contentment for a thriving life
- How we cultivate self-acceptance, self-compassion and empowerment to increase our overall well-being

About the Presenter
Michelle P. Maidenberg, Ph.D., MPH, LCSW-R maintains a private practice in Harrison, NY. She is also the Co-Founder and Clinical Director of “Thru My Eyes”, a nonprofit 501c3 organization that offers free clinically-guided videotaping to chronically medically ill individuals who want to leave video legacies for their children and loved ones, and is dedicated to mental health advocacy.
Michelle is a Certified Group Therapist through the American Group Psychotherapy Association and a Diplomate and certified member of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. She has advanced training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Structural Family Therapy, Polyvagal Theory/Therapy, Mindfulness, and is a Level II trained Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist.
In addition to her practice, Dr. Maidenberg is adjunct faculty member at New York University (NYU), and teaches a graduate course in Mindfulness Practice. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross Crisis Team and the Westchester Trauma Network (WTN) in Westchester NY.
Dr. Maidenberg is the author of the award winning Free Your Child From Overeating, and a new book entitled ACE Your Life: Unleash Your Best Self and Live the Life You Want, available at Thriftbooks, Barnes & Noble, Walmart, Target and Amazon.
