Somatic Experiencing (SE) Applications to Psychotherapy and Sex Therapy

Roger Saint-Laurent, PsyD, SEP, CGP & Sharlene Bird, PsyD, SEP

Mind-body connections have become increasingly important in psychotherapy. Somatic

Experiencing, first developed to treat trauma, demonstrates how vital it is to work with the entire human experience to broaden our understanding and assist in resolving presenting issues and symptoms, support healing, and achieve greater fulfillment in life. Roger and Sharlene offer a primer on SE and discuss some of its applications.

Sharlene will present a brief overview of sex therapy, particularly how it is enhanced by the SE application. Together they will discuss how SE, as a body of knowledge, can usefully complement and potentiate our overall practice of psychotherapy.

Sharlene and Roger will be with us on May 20th from 6:30 to 9:30 to give us an opportunity to learn more about this approach to psychotherapy and healing. The program will be both experiential and didactic. All welcome.

EFT using Applied Kinesiology to help identify the key issues with Dr Perry Perretz

Osteopathy is an approach to medicine that emphasizes an understanding of the body’s self-healing mechanism. To practice osteopathically, a doctor must appreciate that the body is producing symptoms in an attempt to heal, and all interventions must support that process rather than suppress its symptoms. “It is quite consistent with the principles of Chinese Medicine, so it’s a perfect fit for me,” says Dr. Perretz.

One of a small number of doctors to have integrated these philosophies and skills in his approach to medicine, he has built a practice utilizing prolotherapy, neural therapy, manipulation, acupuncture, and trigger point injections, never neglecting emotional and spiritual dimensions of illness. “I have found EFT to be a valuable tool for eliminating emotional barriers to healing,” he says, “and I’ve developed my own approach to EFT using Applied Kinesiology to help identify the key issues.

This is what makes all the difference!”

For the last five years, Dr. Perretz has taught his method to classes through the Graduate Institute, and will introduce these to the KSG March 25th. Attendees should expect to walk away with new insights and skills that will provide immediate benefit.

Dr. Perretz is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, but don’t let that fool you. “I entered medicine from left field, and never made it to the infield,” he often tells patients. He started medical school in 1995, following eight years of practice as an acupuncturist. The patients he saw were the ones who tended to fall through the cracks in the system, and his success with these difficult cases inspired him to continue his studies. After completing osteopathic medical school at the University of New England, and a residency at the University of Chicago, he moved to Connecticut to practice in 2003.

Rick Read – Healing Through Laughter

This has been a transformational year for many and we have been working so hard to move forward on our path.

We often forget how to be playful, joyful, and just laugh. Laughter is a wonderful release, as is crying, but a lot more fun. We thought we would start off the year with joy and laughter to help release the old and bring in the new year on a lighter note.

We have hired a wonderful comedian who also uses magic to help us find our humor and joy. Please come ready to release through laughter, feel lighter and more joy filled.

Rick ReadRick Read has appeared on many radio, television, and stage shows throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.  He also has appeared in the sitcom Night Shift that was filmed for national television.

Dr. Catherine Sweet presents Biomagnetism and Health

Explore the philosophy and history of Biomagnetism. Discover how your magnetic ‘life fields’ shift with health and disease. Observe and experience these energy fields as they relate to the neurological plexuses, chakras, kaballah and your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies.

Biomagnetism has been shown to reduce pain, swelling and tissue acid base changes.  This evening’s lecture was presented at Columbia to Dr. Oz’s research group.

Come and ask how this might help you!
