Dr. Rose Rudnitski is the dean of the School of Education at Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry, Bronx, Manhattan, and Yorktown Heights. Her life’s work is dedicated to the education and well-being of children, an often voiceless group in our society. Just as integrative medicine takes a holistic view of each person, educators need to take an integrative, humanistic perspective on their students. Dr. Samantha Slotnick has a diverse background, with undergraduate roots in behavioral psychology as well as physical chemistry, and post-graduate training in behavioral optometry and vision science. This dual training in art and science is the foundation for her thorough, balanced approach to patient care, maintaining attention to detail without losing sight of the big picture.
Her private behavioral optometry practice is in Scarsdale, NY, providing a whole-person, holistic approach to vision care, for all ages. She specializes in pediatric care and vision development, offering vision therapy and rehabilitation for children – and adults –with vision problems which interfere with reading, learning, attention, performance and efficiency.
Dr. Slotnick obtained her doctorate from the SUNY College of Optometry, and went on to complete her residency in Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation, also at SUNY, along with advanced studies in Vision Science. She continued her academic and practical training, attaining Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry and the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. She remains involved in vision research as a consultant. Recent projects include advanced retinal scanning technology in the identification of Parkinson Disease, and visual perceptual changes in face recognition following acquired brain injury.
Within her profession, Dr. Slotnick has lectured internationally, leading advanced seminars and workshops for optometrists and vision therapists, with an emphasis on vision training for patients with Strabismus (eye turns) and compromised binocular vision. She also lectures to general optometrists on myopia control, and optometric management of patients with special needs.

Dr. Smith received his D.O. degree at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in California after spending a fifth year as an Undergraduate Teaching Fellow in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. He was chosen for this competitive Fellowship to serve as a teacher of osteopathic principles to students and to receive additional training in the practice of osteopathy. He then completed a Family Practice internship at California Hospital in Los Angeles, CA with a firm foundation in the medical care of patients.
Continuing his studies in osteopathy Dr. Smith completed a residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. He then served for 2 years as an attending in this program supervising residents. This is a unique program at an inner city hospital in the Bronx where patients are treated in the hospital as well as in the clinic setting. Newborns, elders, and all ages between are treated.
